Mr Nathaniel Ikyur, a seasoned journalist has declared his intention to contest for the Gboko/Tarka Federal House of Representatives come 2027 general elections under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ikyur, a consummate journalist of several decades experience in statement, noted that he has all it takes to give his people effective and quality representation in green chambers of the national assembly.
He stated that his decision to vie for the seat is driven by a firm belief in his "qualifications, exposure, capacity, competence and maturity to provide effective representation".
He restated his committement to "initiating and supporting developmental programmes that will respond to the needs of our constituents, advance the growth of Benue State, and contribute positively to the development of our great nation, Nigeria".

WHY I'M CONTESTING THE GBOKO/TARKA FEDERAL HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES SEAT IN 2027.
Dear Esteemed Stakeholder,
I wish to formally convey my intention to contest for the seat of Member, Federal House of Representatives, Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency, on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2027 general elections.
I am a proud son of Mba’ajirakaa Council Ward, Tarka Local Government Area, Benue State, and remain deeply committed to the progress and wellbeing of our people.
My decision to vie for this position is driven by a firm belief in my qualifications, exposure, capacity, competence and maturity to provide effective representation. I'm a seasoned journalist with many years of experience as well as an author of the book; "Aper Aku:The Rise of Minority Politics in Nigeria" among other titles.
I have legislative experience having worked at the National Assembly between 2003 and 2011 as a Senior Legislative Aide to Rep. Farouk Lawan. From 2011 to 2015, I was appointed Senior Special Assistant (Media and Strategic Communications) to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal. With this rich legislative background and experience, I know what to do to attract dividends for my Constituency.
Similarly, from 2015 to 2023, I held several positions in the administration of former Governor Samuel Ortom, culminating in my appointment as his Chief Press Secretary between November 1st, 2021 to May 29, 2023 where I discharged myself creditably.
I am therefore committed to initiating and supporting developmental programmes that will respond to the needs of our constituents, advance the growth of Benue State, and contribute positively to the development of our great nation, Nigeria.
While I pledge to conduct my campaign and service strictly in accordance with the constitution and democratic principles, I'm convinced that with the collective support of our people and the structures of our great party, I am confident I will deliver transformative representation for Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency.
